Community Maps

This week we will explore communities in-detail through interactive mapping. We'll use an online mapping tool to make a map that locates and describes important places in a community.

1) Select a city anywhere in the U.S.

2) Brainstorm important places/buildings/institutions in any community.

Oregon Trail Tour with Tour Builder

This week we will begin to create a tour of the Oregon Trail. To support classroom learning about the Oregon Trail, we will be using Tour Builder (with Google Earth) to build unique tours about the journey of early Oregon pioneers. Students will learn more about the important locations along the trail, as well as their geographic significance.

1) Visit the Tour Builder website.

2) Log-in using your Google Apps ID.

3) Select "Create a Tour."

4) Choose a starting point along the trail.

5) Learn how to create placemarks and input pictures, videos, text, etc. for various major locations along the trail.
