Typing Agent + Google Apps & IXL Review

This week we will review and ensure that all students can access Google Apps, and review important tips to remember when using IXL.

We will also introduce our typing practice website, Typing Agent. Typing is a critical skill for students this year as we will be using digital tools more and more to complete classwork and collaborate with classmates.

Beginning in 4th grade, students are required to be able to type a minimum of one page in a single sitting. In 5th grade, students are required to type two pages in a single sitting. Grades 1-5 need to use digital tools to produce and publish writing, including collaborate with peers. Typing Agent will help prepare students to meet these new standards.

1) First, CLICK HERE to activate your account if you haven't already.

2) Click HERE to access Portland Public's Google Apps page.

3) Review IXL rules and tips/tricks (Don't stress if you can't hit 100 on the Smart Score).

4) Click HERE to access Typing Agent.

5) Enter your username and password (same as Google Apps).

6) Select the Pre-Test under the Testing section.

7) Review basic typing skills.

8) If there's time, start the lesson on Home Row.
